Working with the famous NFL Player, Fran Tarkenton, we have created a professional software package called Compass Financial Tools.  This commercial software package is used by hundreds of users to create financial snapshots, as well as an annuities calculation and quotation system.  I am also responsible for the processing for Tarkenton's other company, http://www.GoSmallBiz.com.  I have converted the inline ASP code to use COM+ objects, allowing unlimited scalability and faster execution of programs.  Created XML interface for 2 separate credit card processing companies, being used by VB/C/ASP applications.

 

December 2002 - June 2003

Pick Internet Services, Inc., Boca Raton, FL

Created a custom gateway, synchronizing a MySQL database with Quickbooks Enterprise Edition using an XML/Visual Basic gateway. This program will synchronize in real time when transactions are created in the client's shipping management software (MySQL) and port over billing and payment information to Quickbooks.

Craftmaster Pools, Inc., Del Ray, Florida – Tom Reardon

Software Architect and Primary Developer – Created Extranet system, http://www.pooldeveloperpro.com to handle all aspects of a pool construction company.  Challenge: Take this company from “paper and pencil” to current IT technology. The software is written in ASP, COM+ (VB), and SQL Server.  Responsibilities include analysis, data modeling, software architecture (object modeling and workflow analysis), and the actual software development.  The program has been so successful, that a new ASP company has been formed around it, and it is currently in modifications to handle multiple companies as a service on the Internet. Currently, we’re re-engineering certain modules in the system into a DNA distributed architecture for faster processing and better usage of network resources.  Creation of COM+ objects, database analysis, SQL Server stored procedures and DDL, and presentation coding in Visual Basic. 

April 2000 - Present

Praxair Distribution Southeast, LLC., Jupiter, FL

Software Architect and Project Manager - Created Intranet system using ASP/Visual Interdev front-end, and SQL Server 7.0 database. Created COM objects and ASP code libraries. Implemented the use of Microsoft Source Safe for both source code and office document control. Complete software authoring for a "paper and pencil" fortune 500 company. Responsible for Analysis, Scope and Requirements of Project, Project Management, hiring of development staff, technical team lead and lead developer. 6 part project focusing on a Sales Management System, Issue Tracking, Daily Batch Processing, Truck Delivery Tracking, Payroll, and Human Resources. This Intranet system ties together 30+ offices in Florida and Georgia, and is currently online and running smoothly. Since I have been working with Praxair, profits have been up over 130% for 2 years in a row.

Foster Sports Radio Network, Inc., Boynton Beach, FL

Chief Technical Officer: Responsible for design and development of http://www.SportsFansWorldWide.com and http://www.FosterSports.com. Handled project management, hiring/management of development resources for graphics, initial HTML Development, created all dynamic (ASP/SQL 8) content for Question of the Day, Search Engine, and Pay-Per-Click search engine. Also responsible for 2.2 million address email list, weekly mailing, and search engine placement.

Champion Computers/MidrangeUser.com, Boca Raton, FL

Software Developer - Java 2. Used Java (IBM Visual Age), DB2, Access to create catalog import system which imports item and product information from external data sources into IBM Net.Commerce (eBusiness). Created software generator (Java Classes) for online high-tech search and comparison shopping. Helped to educate project manager and web promotion person on search engine posting techniques, and was awarded an extremely high listing in Yahoo for the midrange computer marketplace (http://www.midrangeuser.com) This position was taken to enhance Java and eCommerce skills.

Family Central, Inc.  Coral Springs, FL.

Project Manager/Technical Team Lead Created custom multi-tier software and database system using Oracle 8 and Visual Basic 6.0, Performed all DBA work. Senior Analyst for the creation and development of an in-house system to control the Admissions, Outpatient, and Social Services functions of the company. Mentored in-house programmer for 7 months while coding project. Created Scope and Requirement documentation, Workflow analysis, technical and user’s documentation. Created cross-platform interfaces to 3 external software packages, include Broward County Children’s Service Board, Medicaid, and IDS. Project successfully completed, software currently in use.

Project Manager/Technical Team Lead for the creation and development of the Human Resources Information System to be used at the main headquarters. This software was developed in Visual Basic/SQL Server. Duties involved Scope and Requirement Documentation, Program Requirement Development, Senior Technical resource, supported user community and programming team, project management, and reporting.

Palm Beach Software Design, Inc. (formerly New Wave Computing, Inc)  Boynton Beach, FL  Owner. PBSD is a software development and consulting company, specializing in software development and implementation of N-tier business systems, business analysis, Database Design and Development, and MIS planning. Results from analysis work yields scope and requirement specifications for hardware and identification of required software for both communications and business applications, along with purchasing and internal development recommendations. Project management (implementation of analysis) work includes managing in-house and external contractors, purchasing, and time and resource management of the project. Software Development can be performed on all popular operating systems/platforms.

December 1996 - December 1998

VC Systems, Inc. - Coral Springs, FL

Participated in the development of Video Teleconferencing Software, XvidPRO GOLD, and hardware security issues with direct programming to hardware “keys”. This is a dial up software package that supports bi-directional video transmission. Created XvidPRO NET, which is an Internet-based Video Teleconferencing software and accounting package. It was created in Java (Visual Café Pro) and Clarion for Windows. This is a true Internet Broadcasting system supporting many-to-1 applications. Created bookkeeping system for commercial Video Teleconferencing Applications. Developed corporate website http://www.xvidpro.com, Software Manuals, and all promotional literature. Currently converting legacy system to VB Client/Server.

December 1995 – July 1997

Visual Communication Funding Corp.Hallandale Beach, FL.

Created Video Teleconferencing service bureau. Raised capital from investors by creating detailed business plan and market analysis. Set up service bureau, hired personnel, developed in-house software first in Visual Basic, then in Clarion for Windows. Developed and maintained 5 CHILD-PROOF Adult websites for the promotion of adult video teleconferencing services. Developed all sales literature and promotional material for COMDEX trade show in Las Vegas. Visual Communication Funding Corp. has been favorably featured on Local Florida news reports, CNN, and Japanese news. Original plan was followed, and I created a profitable business, which I recently sold.

Job  Titles: Production/ Registration then promoted to Technical Services.

Responsibilities: Production/Registration: Duties included mass production of DataFlex product, conversion of product to over 200 different formats and operating systems, trade show support, handle registration  tech support calls/problems, hard  labor  including working in the garage producing manuals, shrink wrapping manuals, etc.

Technical Support: (2 Years) Promoted to Technical Support by merit. Self taught DataFlex, and started to produce solutions for the production/registration department. Was then moved to Technical Services where formal DataFlex education began. Main responsibility was programmer support and paid subscription support. Additional projects were performed for the sales and marketing departments. A technical article written by Mark Turkel was published in FlexLines, the International DataFlex Magazine for DataFlex Developers during the summer of 1988. Left Data Access seeking independent employment as consultant because no positions were vacant in the Research and Development Department.
